When I feel like getting out of the crowd of Mumbai, I find myself going to Gorai Beach. It is a quick drive from the city, but a world of its own. I go there on weekdays to watch the sunset and spend some peaceful time. The serenity of the beach, the cool breeze, and the lack of people make it my little slice of heaven.

Why I Keep Coming Back

Gorai Beach is one of those spots that feels like a secret gem. It’s less crowded than some of Mumbai’s other beaches, and that is why I like it so much. There’s something about being able to utilize the open area without having to share it with a lot of people. The sand is clean, the ground beneath me is soft, and the waves are tranquil—it’s the sort of serene environment that rejuvenates me.

Weekday Sunsets

The best part of my trips is, without fail, the sunset. I tend to visit there during the weekday afternoon, and by the time the sun begins to set, the beach is deserted, giving me a serene, ethereal sight. Seeing the sky turn colors as the sun sets over the horizon is never tiring. The golden light that reflects on the water is soothing, and there’s something so serene about sitting there alone, absorbing it all.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Each time I walk on the beach, I’m welcomed by the cool sea breeze, which immediately makes me feel more relaxed. Whether I’m strolling along the beach, resting on the beach, or simply observing the waves, the crisp air clears my head. It’s the best spot to release all tension and simply exist in the moment. I frequently find time to unwind, think, or even snap pictures of the gorgeous scenery. The serenity here is second to none.

The Simple Joys of Being There

My favorite part is that getting to Gorai Beach from Mumbai is so simple. There is no planning or long travel involved, and it’s the perfect place to just get away. The greatness of the beach is that it’s not extravagant—it’s just being at peace in the simple things. I don’t require anything too complex or luxurious to be able to spend my time there. Just the ocean, the beach, and the sunset are sufficient to make me feel refreshed.

A Few Tips for My Fellow Tourists

  • Best Time to Visit: I always visit during weekdays to escape the weekend crowds. The sunsets are just as beautiful, and the setting is more peaceful.
  • Bring Your Own Snacks & Water: There aren’t a lot of food vendors in the vicinity, so I ensure that I bring my own water and snacks for the journey.
  • Take Time to Unwind: If you’re a photography buff like me, or simply someone who loves to sit and absorb the view, it’s about taking your time and living the moment.

Gorai Beach is my own little escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s not tourism or masses of people—it’s the tranquility and solitude that helps me connect with myself. If you ever need some relaxation, this is where I’ll be—sitting through the sunset and appreciating the little things in life.
